Previews Sneak Peek: March
Keeping up with the newest and hottest comics that hit the shelf is a tough task to take on, but comic readers do it anyways. Always chasing after that next great storyline or the next piece of fantastic cover or interior art that will look great on their wall or fit right in with the other issues in their short boxes. That love for art and literacy endures! But, there’s a better way to stay in the know than keeping an eagle on news articles or just stopping in at your local comic shop every Wednesday to find out what the latest upcoming releases are.
Each month Diamond, Marvel, and DC Comics release catalogs that are commonly referred to as Previews. These books have solicitations for upcoming comics and products that release typically three months from the month the Previews themselves are released. It’s a fantastic resource to stay in the know, and you can use it to pre-order items you’re interested in through your local comic store. You can usually find them on the shelves the last Wednesday of every month, or you can subscribe to Previews and get it pulled for you!

The Previews for March 2022 released this last Wednesday has some upcoming comics from big-name creators that look interesting and might be worth adding to your subscription before that first issue hits the shelves. Let’s take a look:
BONE ORCHARD: THE PASSAGEWAY OGN HC
A new shared horror universe from the minds who brought you Primordial and Gideon Falls. Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino come together to make a graphic novel series that’s sure to make your skin crawl. The story will follow a geologist who is sent to a remote lighthouse to investigate the strange happenings that are going on there. He finds a seemingly endless hole in the midst of the rocks in the area, but he has no idea what lurks within or why he feels a pull towards it.

TWIG #1 (OF 5)
New from Skottie Young! The Eisner award winner is teaming up with Kyle Strahm for a fantasy you won’t want to miss. The pint-sized protagonist Twig is a furry, blue creature that has a glint of curiosity in his eyes. He’s off to start his new job as a journeyer to save the whimsical and somewhat terrifying world he lives in. The upcoming comic promises to bring a tale of hope, determination, and heartache as the Twig faces obstacles that seem insurmountable.

TALES FROM HARROW COUNTY: LOST ONES #1 (OF 4)
Cullen Bunn is perhaps the king of indie horror, and he expands again on the world of Harrow County with Tales from Harrow County: Lost Ones. If you’re a fan of southern gothic horror, the Harrow County series is a must-read. It combines the supernatural with the eerie as a young woman Emmy is connected to the monsters that live in Harrow County. This upcoming comic follows Emmy ten years after she’s left Harrow County. What’s happened since she gave up her powers? Find out where life has taken her, and venture into the first story that takes place outside of Harrow County.

GRIM #1
From budding but prolific and acclaimed comic writer Stephanie Phillips (Harley Quinn) and fan-favorite artist Flaviano (New Mutants), Grim #1 looks like it will be perfect for fans of Something is Killing the Children. The story follows the afterlife of Jessica Harrow, who has recently been recruited as a grim reaper. While other reapers seem to remember their last moments and what brought them to this point in their death, Jessica has no memory of what has gotten her here. Besides ferrying souls to the afterlife, she has to solve the mystery of how she died.

It’s a new ongoing series to BOOM! Studios library that looks super promising and explores what may happen after death. This upcoming comic is in stores on May 11, 2022 and is available for pre-order now.
THE SHAOLIN COWBOY: CRUEL TO BE KIN #1 (OF 7)
The fourth installment in the Shaolin Cowboy universe The Shaolin Cowboy: Cruel to be Kin Geof Darrow continues the absurd storyline and detailed artwork. This upcoming comic takes a new look at the Shaolin Cowboy as he takes on parenting and homeschooling in the midst of a pandemic…of violence. And, he plans to tackle it the only way he knows how: kung fu, swords, guns, and flying guillotines.

DANGER STREET #1
DC Black Label has turned out some pretty incredible storylines these past few years, giving comic readers interesting perspectives on some beloved heroes and characters that don’t often get the spotlight. Danger Street #1 is no different. Tom King teams up with Jorge Fornes for another maxi-series that promises to turn some characters upside down. King takes characters featured in DC’s 1st Issue Special anthology series published in the 70s and throws them into a multi-character, multi-layered crime drama. This upcoming comic will star Warlord, Starman, and Metamorpho trying to prove themselves worthy of membership in the Justice League by summoning and defeating Darkseid. Complete with knights, princesses, and all sorts of monsters, Danger Street promises to have it all.

Tom King has proven that he has a way of turning obscure characters into deep and complex figures that readers get invested in. Fans of Tom King’s previous works be sure to add this upcoming comic to your subscription before it hits stores on May 4, 2022.
AQUAMAN: ANDROMEDA #1

Pops of color contrast with the dark depths of the sea when Ram V (Swamp Thing) and Christian Ward (Invisible Kingdom) team up for a psychological horror story. SECRET INVASION #1
The skrulls return to the Marvel comic universe with another invasion. Maria Hill and Nick Fury investigate hints of the Skrulls presence. While investigating a sighting in Iowa, Nick Fury finds more than he expected. Earth’s defenses won’t hold up to this new threat. The invasion begins NOW!

STAR WARS: OBI-WAN KENOBI #1 (OF 5)
Another Marvel title releasing in anticipation for a silver screen adaptation, Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi #1 follows the fan-favorite, titular character. It begins with an older Kenobi on Tatooine, reflecting on his younger years. The mini-series seems like it will focus on many part of his life: his trials as a padawan, his days as a young jedi initiate, and the other challenges he faced in the earliest days on his journey to become a master of the force. The first issue will tell readers of a time when Obi-Wan was a youngling on the planet Coruscant.

Writer Christopher Cantwell and artist Ario Anindito team up for a Star Wars series that every fan will want to pick up. The Disney+ show is set to hit television screens on May 25, 2022 and the upcoming comic is set to hit stores on May 4, 2022.
